Born and raised in Calgary, Jessica is a multi-time national champion competing in the sports of track and field, cross country, and road running. Growing up as an Irish dancer, Jess started joined a track club in Grade 11, and hasn’t stopped running since!
During her university career, she earned All-Canadian and All-American honours at the University of Calgary and West Virginia University, but her career was wrought with injuries and bad luck including anemia, a bout of pneumonia, Achilles tendonitis, and being hit by a car! Thankfully she has since broken out of the injury cycle and is well on her way to represent Canada on the biggest stages...
Jess competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, and is qualified for the 2015 Commonwealth Games and World Championships in the 5000m. She also recently ran Olympic Standard in the 5000m, which is a major step towards her lifelong goal of representing Canada at the 2016 Olympic Games. In between training sessions, Jess is working on a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, and loves learning about the science behind her training. Jess is passionate about helping others and sharing many of the lessons she’s learned on her sporting journey.
