The students were genuinely intrigued by the words of Alisha Tatham, a 2012 Olympian on Team Canada's National Basketball Team. Her eloquent and often humorous message about perseverance and diligence and goal setting was inspiring and well received by all. She took time to answer their questions about pursuing goals and chasing dreams.
Our assigned mentor Geoff Biss displayed an infectious energy and positivity about his role as a Motivate Canada Youth Ambassador. In a workshop with 25 students, he was able to inspire them to 'think big' about how to use potential additional funding to further facilitate healthy living and physical activities at their school and their community. The students were reminded about the importance of their projects leaving a lasting legacy for other students and community members to enjoy.
In short, Geoff is the ideal youth-mentor and we are so thankful to have him continue to work with our students beyond the presentations as they work on their projects with his guidance.
Thanks again to all who made for a great afternoon at Jesse Ketchum.

Dear ESTEEM Team,
I want to tell you how pleased and delighted my administrators, colleagues and students we were to have the opportunity to meet Alisha Tatham at our school.
Alisha was an inspiring speaker and had the students attentive and engaged, especially when they had to dress as a Canadian Olympian. Her candidness and willingness to share her personal trials and tribulations kept the students interested and her use of humour made for a great presentation. One l would highly recommend to others.

Mark is an energizing and inspirational force!! He had his entire audience – young and old, alike – laughing, crying, cheering, on their feet, moving. We were enraptured! Mark is a special person. I am proud that he is a friend of ParticipACTION – helping us move Canadians more!
